Ideal doses of turmeric:

According to the verified data, dose of turmeric and curcumin in any adult, is given below:
• Raw Fresh roots: 1.5-3 grams per day.
• Turmeric Powder made from dried rhizomes: 1 to 3 grams per day.
• Curcumin (standardized powder or extracted and concentrated form of curcumin): 400-600 mg thrice a day.
• Fluid extract of turmeric: 30-90 drops in a day.
• Curcumin tincture: 15-30 drops, 4 times a day.
• Capsule form (curcumin): 1.2-1.8 three times a day.

Usually 90-95 percent of standardized supplement of turmeric are most commonly used for the health benefits and the common dose falls in between 400-600 mg, three times a day, but it may not be the fixed dose because some diseases and related conditions may require a higher amount to get the desired results and the response may be dose dependent.
Thus, it is concluded that 400-600 mg dose thrice a day is an adequate amount to consume for any standardized curcumin extract, this is also recommended by the University of Maryland.
A dose range of 500-8000 mg per day of turmeric has been utilized in various clinical studies conducted on human and dose of standardized extract was lesser in amount, it was around 250-2000 mg per day.

Reason behind higher dose of turmeric:

So it has been noticed that up to 8 grams per day dose is given to the patients, it means a higher dose is preferred when we are critically ill and small dosage is needed for the minor ailments or there is less severity of illness. Thus a higher dose is meant for the curative purpose and the lesser is meant for the preventive purpose.
For example, in case of any major disease the starting dose may be higher for the quick action and control, it is a curative dose, but later on after some relief the dose may be reduced, it is a preventive dose because now our body is slowly getting into normal or undiseased state. Hence dose is not fixed, it may be very and can be change according to the need or bodies requirement.
Some lab studies and therapeutic analysis show that the benefits of turmeric are based upon the real mechanism of the molecules. So we should take advantage of it, just by including turmeric in our daily life and increasing its intake to spice up our health.
